When you receive your shipment, check the fan immediately for damage. We had ordered one months ago and did not immediately install, found it severely damaged and Minka would not replace it so we had to buy another one.It moves the air well, cools the room considerably. If not for the double-purchase, it would recoup the cost pretty quickly in electricity savings.I put it in a small kitchen and I love it. I didn't want the big blade type, though my 15' x 13' kitchen could have taken a larger one. I just didn't want a fan that occupied so much more of the ceiling. But if you do, I think Minka makes one like this with bigger blades. This one is just so adorable and spunky looking. And it puts up a good amount of wind which is enough for me. The center light isn't terribly bright, but again, that was ok for me as I have plenty of ceiling lights around the kitchen. We made a couple more ceiling lights on the same line as the ceiling fan, so the wall slider that operates the fan also operates the other lights above the kitchen island. This works fine for me.The funny thing is I just read other people's reviews and saw one person was disappointed that the blades were plastic. I actually didn't know this so I just went to check and I see that he is right. I was not the installer, and up on the ceiling I never noticed that. Hmm... normally I don't like plastic but it doesn't bother me at all. The fan still looks very good to me.For me this smaller fan is what I wanted in my kitchen, but I imagine most people will put it in a smaller space where they can't get a larger fan in.I ordered two of these -- one for our kitchen and one for our study/den. One of them had a few scuff marks and scratches as if it had been assembled before. But because I hired a professional electrician and the installation was already in progress, I decided to overlook the blemishes. Fortunately, both fans work fine. They're quite impressive in terms of the amount of air they move. Very cool. The light is not bright enough as noted in other reviews but we're okay because we have a second light in each room. Oh by the way, I also had to order remote controls separately for these fans to avoid any installation difficulties.This is a very attractive fan and is surprisingly strong, but beware that it is NOT compatible with a remote. I purchased a remote that was listed as "frequently bought with" the fan, but it would not work. My electrician called the manufacturer who said that remotes are not compatible with this fan. I said that some reviews said that they used remotes, but the manufacturer said that they may be using universal remotes, but they will not power all speeds of the fan. I had to pay a significantly extra amount to install the wall unit, so beware before you purchase if you need a remote.I bought this fan to replace an existing ceiling fan. I hired an excellent electrician to install it. The reviewers say that installation is a breeze! Well, guess what? None of the information tells you that if your wall wiring only supports an on and off fan, the remote wall switch won't work properly unless you have ADDITIONAL WIRING installed to accomodate the dimming and fan speed. Where in the product information does it say this? I think this is deceptive. This is a consumer product. I am not an electrician. Now I will have to go through additional expense to have two more wires run from my basement to this fan. A remote comtrol is not an option because this product does not support one. And yet, in the "frequently bought together" section for this item, it is suggested that it is remote compatible by offering a bundle of products that includes this fan and a remote control. The fan is now installed in my kitchen so I can't return it but I will have to wait until the electrician can come back and install it properly. I trust that this electrician is telling me the truth. I feel deceived by Amazon's product description. The product is probably a good one but the inaccurate product description merits a one star rating.Too early for a complete review. Just received the fan and noticed it does not come with the cover for the light opening as illustrated on the Amazon site. There is a question about this from 2 years ago, but I never thought to look. I do not believe my wiring will allow the light to function and I do not need it. The cover would have been nice. It appears to be a quality unit. Amazon should update their site and remove the 2 photos showing the cover.Love, love, love this fan. I had it installed in my kitchen in the corner where my stove and sink are located and where it seems I am always working. What a difference it has made. No one else was sure it was a good idea, but I they have been impressed with the amount of air it circulates. The light isn't very bright, but I knew that when I ordered it and I have other lights in the kitchen, so that wasn't a concern. This was the only fan that I could find in the size and color I wanted, so it was obviously meant to be. Thank you so much!The size was perfect, I installed it over the kitchen island, the only complaint is the low setting moves a lot of air, too much for the low setting, it will blow off the loose paper towels on the island if I do not put anything on them. I installed the receiver for the hand held remote and it woorks well.Quiet and pushes air well. RecommendedThis very small unit is moving lots of air, great price performer!
